Deodorant (I used tapioca starch because I didn’t have arrowroot on hand and it worked swimmingly)

Lotion: Lotion is funny being zero waste. I have tried SO. MANY. RECIPES. But really, I think just argan oil is fantastic. Any mixture of the following are fantastic, but many come in plastic. Make sure it is at very least recyclable.

  • Coconut oil
  • Vegetable glycerin
  • Sunflower lecithin
  • Hemp oil
  • Avocado oil
  • Olive oil
  • Shea Butter

Toothpaste: Y’all I am SO excited to post this. Ben.To.Nite.Clay. Ten years ago, I went to a dentist. I have several cavities, needed a root canal and a deep clean. I had no money. So I left. I didn’t look back. I started brushing with Bentonite, coconut oil, baking soda and black charcoal. I use a water pic and swish clean with hydrogen peroxide. A couple months ago, I went to a dentist. I have one tooth that I might need a filling on because I chipped it on a tongue ring when I was 19. (Listen to your mother!) and the signs of the dead tooth are REVERSING. WHAAAAA! I also learned that charcoal and hydrogen peroxide can be damaging so use every once in a while. I have now made three different toothpastes and I switch between the three.

Cleansing paste:

  • 1 part coconut oil
  • 1 part baking soda

Repairing paste:

  • 2 parts coconut oil
  • 1 part baking soda
  • 1 part Bentonite

Whitening paste:

  • 2 parts coconut oil
  • 1 part baking soda
  • 1 part activated black charcoal

Cold and Flu Remedy: Okay I sound like a crazy person on this one. Master tonic. But this stuff works like an antibiotic. No joke. It fixed my tooth ache. It cures colds. It’s fantastic. (This is where I’m suppose to put that I’m not a doctor and to please see your doctor).

  • 3c Apple Cider Vinegar WITH Mother
  • 1/4 c minced garlic
  • 1/4 c minced onion
  • 1/2 c ginger root, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 c horseradish root, peeled and grated
  • 2 habanaros, minced
  • zest and juice from 2 lemons
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne
  • 1/8 c tumeric root, peeled and grated
  • Honey to taste (Optional)

(I strongly suggest wearing gloves!) Place everything in a bowl and mix well. Place everything in a mason jar and add ACV over the top. Make sure the metal doesn’t come in contact with the ACV. (I learned this the hard way) Keep in a cool dark place and shake daily. Let seep for about 2 weeks. Use a cheese cloth or nut milk bag to squeeze as much liquid as possible out of the pulp and discard pulp. (Or compost!)

Hair care: Alright, I’m still messing with this one.

Shampoo: I just use castille soap. It kind of sucks, honestly. I have a VERY dry scalp and using a soap like that doesn’t do much for me.

  • Sedona Christina has a recipe that looks fantastic but I don’t have anything on hand and I try to use things I already have. If anyone tries this one out, let me know!
